THE SHIP

Well as promised I put some infos about the boats.

There are 4 greek companies having daily departures from ANCONA to IGOUMENITSA (final destination is Patras) on about 15 hours.

Superfast ferries
Bluestarferries
Minoan
Anek

I usually travel on deck, because I’m all the time - till the morning - at the bars and the disco (talking and drinking with truck drivers'… ), but I think that it would be better for you to take a cabin. So, I suggest to make a division of the partecipants using 4bed cabins.

Superfast and Bluestarferries (now they are together) are more expensives. I can ask them for offers but I’m more oriented to Minoan and Anek (they have quite the same pricelist).
At the moment they told me that they can’t make an offer because they will have later the new pricelist and timetable for 2009, but they told me that we have to consider a 20% of discount on 2008 pricelist.

Here is the pricelist for a low season departure and a high season return (I’m quite sure that at the return would be high season. So, I consider the worst case...)

The guys from Minoan phoned me today.
Next week they'll have the new calendar (2009) and they 'll send me the exact offer.

Well, yesterday I've received an offer from ANEK (only for the persons, for the cars we have to wait some days) and today from MINOAN.

ANEK prices for groups (waiting also an offer for the cars)


Please note that:

_ the prices are per person and one way

_ our departure is in LOW SEASON and the return in HIGH SEASON
So to calculate the whole price we have to add the price of accommodation we want of the low season + the price of accommodation tha weprefer for the return of high season.
For example:
4BED inside cabin for both go and return (AB4)= 46,50 (blu column) + 121,00(orange column)=167,50 euro per person (round trip)
or
AB4 for depart. and ATS for the return= 46,50 + 60=106,50 euro per person (round trip)
ecc

_ we are consider as "a group" if we are minimum 16 persons on low season and 20 persons on high season

I'm waiting for the prices of ANEK for the cars.
For cabin accommodation Minoan's prices seems better.
We have to understand what type of accommodation we want and then compair.

I do not think cabin is needed... it's just few hours

Don't forget that after the ship is 300+ km that u have to drive....

I'm used to do this trip every year.... usually on deck, but I don't know if it's a good idea for all of us.

A guy of celicaT20 italia had an idea but we have to see about it.
He suggests to take a couple of cabins in case of need and if somebody needs to sleep to go there. Sounds ok, but I dont'know how we can handle the costs and what will happened if everybody wants to use them contemporary?!?!

I'm sure that we will have a lot of things to do on the ship (bars, disco etc) till late at night.
The most difficult part without sleep it would be after disco and before the arrival (3-4 hours) for the trip to Greece.
For Ancona is different, because the ship arrives at early afternoon and maybe it's more difficult to resist without sleep.

I still think that it's more clear if every partecipant can choice the type of accommodation that he need.


PS: Still no news from ANEK for the car prices. Think I'm gonna pre-confirm with Minoan and ask for more details and deadlines.

you are right about that but still it's too pricey for me to pay for cabin at high season... low season maybe but high no way... I really need to consider this well :/

Martin, as I wrote before, I think that it's not so necessary the cabin. I do this trip in this way without problems... Everyone has to decide what is better for him.
You have to take with you on the ship a sleeping bag and if it would be necessary you can sleep in this way.


Well, for the days, we should take the boat from Ancona on Wednesday 19 of August.

Is it ok for you a return on Friday 28 (arrival at Ancona on Satursay 29?)
Or do you prefer a day after? Saturday 29 of august (arrival on Sunday 30 at Ancona)?

I think that we have to discuss and define accomoddation in Greece too. But for this I'm thinkink to open a dedicated thead. The idea is to take the hotel for the days of the official meeting, because we need a big place with a large parkink and then something that costs less. There are several campings, bungalows and studios in the area. I'll be back in Greece for Christmas holidays in a few weeks. It's the right time to take some other offers. On August was too early...

Please insert your preferences to your lists
We have to comunicate to Minoan the number of the cars and the number of cabins or seats we need.

The name list will be comunicated at the summer.

If you have different preferences for the outbound and return trip you have to add the half of each price to calculate the total cost.
For example:
AB4 for outbound trip and ATS for the return trip is:
144/2+85/2=77+42,5=119,5€
